Programs and Initiatives


Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. national programs are community outreach mentoring initiatives that have been adopted by the governing body and mandated for implementation by all of its chapters. Alpha Phi Alpha’s special Initiatives are programs and activities that are sustained through collaborative efforts, memoranda of understanding, and/or outside financial assistance, which Alpha chapters are encouraged to implement. Program:

Go To High School Go To College

The focus of Alpha Phi Alpha’s Inc. Go-To-High School, Go-To- College National Program is designed to help young people focus their attention on” high school completion and the pursuit of college education or other forms of training after high school graduation.”  Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter implements the  Go-To-High School, Go-To- College National Program through its partnership with local High Schools (Stafford High School) and Churches.


Initiative:

March of Dimes

Omicron Alpha Lambda of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. joined forces with March of Dimes to support the effort of helping families have healthy babies.Every year in the United States, more than half a million babies are born too soon, 12,116 of them are born too soon in Virginia. The goal is to improve the health of babies and support families if something does go wrong.


Initiative:

G4 (Go Getter/Goal Getters)

The Go Getters/Goal Getters Initiative are workshops, forums and events established to encourage, stimulate, and challenge young men to set goals and focus on achieving them by combining fun activities with serious themes (Workshops). The G4 concept supports Alpha Phi Alpha’s Inc. Go-To-High School Go-To- College (GHGC) National Program.   Workshops and themes will center on the GHGC curriculum.


Initiative:

Braswell Run/Walk Against Teen Violence

Every year Omicron Alpha Lambda supports this event in Fredericksburg. This run/walk has been created to bring a continued awareness to the issue of teen violence, and the effects of teen violence on the victim, the families involved, the perpetrator and the community as a whole. The event is designed to bring families and the community together, uniting for a cause and taking a stand against teen violence and violence in our community.
